This year, we celebrate 35 years of continuous, direct Talking Books Library Service to the Blind and Physically Disabled in Palm Beach County. On July 17, 1973, the Palm Beach county “subregional” library facility opened for service as part of the Central Library’s audiovisual section. Today, there are 10 Talking Books libraries in the state, as part of a network of 150 libraries nationwide that make up the Library of Congress’ National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Disabled.

In a new initiative for this year’s Families Reading Together campaign, high school photography students were invited to submit photos capturing the natural beauty of Palm Beach County. Thirty-four captivating photographs were received for display.

The new MP3 format audiobooks can be used with the Apple iPod, as well as hundreds of other MP3 players, including those from Creative, Sony, Samsung, Rio, SanDisk and most cell phones.
